•  Coordinate. Whether it's the same pattern, the same colour, shades of the same colour, primary colours, or complimentary pastels, your family can look good without having to look alike. Especially with larger families, random colours and patterns are hard to look at and offer no continuity within the photo.

• We suggest a 1-hour photo session for groups of 6 or more. Each pose takes a bit longer to set up, and getting the best smiles or expressions from everyone at once can be a challenge. You can also split the group up and take photos of just the kids, the parents, the guys, the girls, or some individual shots. The 1-hour session will also give you more time to be fun and candid.

( 1-4 weeks)

• We do a variety of things for newborns, such as nude shots, diaper shots or photos of your newborn wrapped in a favorite blanket. We also love taking shots of your newborn's hands and feet compared to your own and shots of your newborn in your arms or lying across an outstretched arm. Keeping that in mind, even if you just want shots of your newborn it's best for you to wear a plain white or black shirt and to have your hands, arms and feet ready for the camera.

• We suggest that you feed and undress (if you want nude or diaper shots) your newborn just before your session. Market Mall has a Mother's Room by the woman's washroom at the far end of the food court, Southcentre Mall and Oakridge Centre have change rooms. It's also okay to let your newborn sleep through the first bit of the photo session. That gives us a chance to take some pretty cute shots of him/her sleeping.

( 1-5 months )

• Since babies usually aren't sitting up yet at this age we suggest bringing in a favorite blanket to roll around in or a toy to play with.

• Come prepared to take some shots with your baby. We love to capture the interaction between you and your baby, and it's a great way to get them to smile.

( 6-9 months )

• This is when they are starting to sit up on their own and are full of smiles. They are a little more outgoing and their curiosity offers a ton of cute expressions for the camera.

• We also have a flowerpot, basket and tin bucket that we can take shots of them in.

( 10 months -2 years )

• We try and take more candid photos at this age. As they become comfortable with crawling or taking their first steps they like to explore their surroundings. We let them run around and have fun with our photographers. This is also a great time to bring in their favorite toys or activities.

Infants & toddlers together

• Let us know if there are any poses your infant and toddler naturally do or do well together. Our experienced photographers will also have ideas to try. Whether your infant and toddler will cooperate or not is tough to predict. Each is at such a different stage of growth that sometimes it may be a challenge to get them to cooperate at the exact same time. But it's a worth a shot, and sometimes what doesn't work out can turn into a pretty cute candid shot!
Be prepared to be in some of the photos to help out the toddler and infants together. Sometimes, it may be worth the wait for your infant to be able to sit up on his/her own.

• Come in wearing your grad dress or tuxedo. Then change into your after-grad outfit or something more casual.

• If you want to come in for your photos the day before or day of your graduation (with all your hair and makeup done) then book your session early so you'll have a better chance of getting the day and time you want.

• Make the photo session even more fun and bring your date or friends. If you're bringing your friends and you all want wardrobe changes then we suggest you book a 1-hour session.

• We have a generic gown and different coloured sashes you can use, but we suggest you try and borrow a cap and gown from your school first.

• The best time for maternity shots is when you're 6-8 months pregnant. It'll show the full beauty of your pregnancy while avoiding the puffiness that sometimes happens in the last weeks.

• If you're looking for a semi-clothed look, we think a men's dress shirt with the bottom half unbuttoned is a good look. Solid white or light pastel tones work best.

• Come in a few minutes early and have a look through our sample albums or around our studio for ideas.

• kidsphoto Security allows pets under the following conditions:
- Large dogs must be kept on a short leash. Smaller pets should also be on a leash but may instead be carried by the owner or in a kennel.
- Please enter through the North East entrance. If you are not familiar with the mall, just try and avoid the food court when you come in.
- No pets are allowed in the food court under any circumstances.

• We suggest you have your pet groomed before coming in. Not only will your pet look his/her best but it'll also help us keep our studio clean.

• Feel free to bring in toys or treats to help your pet cooperate.

• For the safety of everyone involved, if you have noticed that your pet behaves aggressively in strange, new environments (especially to our flash umbrellas) then we would advise you to leave your pet at home.

• Please let us know in advance as we do normally need to book you in at a certain time of the day or we may need to end your session a few minutes early to clean up to avoid allergies throughout the rest of the day towards others families.

• If you need photos for an audition, business card or other professional uses, please check with the company or agency to see if they need specific shots. If they do, please let us know what they are asking for.

• If you don't need anything specific, bring in multiple wardrobe changes to show a variety of looks.

• When it comes to portfolios, your eyes are even more important. We always want you to have fun with us, but you'll also have to work hard to get great shots for your portfolio.

• If you want your photos printed with us please keep in mind that it takes about 3 weeks for your photos to be ready for pick up. We can also rush your order in 5-7 business days for $35.

• You also have the option of purchasing your photo as a fully enhanced, high-resolution JPEG image. Each image will cost $150 and will include a signed copyright release form from Kidsphoto Canada Ltd. With the JPEG image you can print out as many copies on your own as you like.
